The tiny
Village of Corrales covers about 10 square miles along the Rio Grande River. The valley is lush with cottonwood trees, while the mesas to the west have the low shrubs of four-wing saltbush, silver sage and desert dahlia. Corrales has more dogs than people. Horses, cows, chickens, llamas and alpacas live here. Apple orchards, vineyards and small farms nestle near the tree lined acquias that run the length of the village. Corrales is a quiet retreat from the neighboring large cities of Albuquerque and Rio Rancho. Click on photo to enlarge.
