These photos were taken in the Ojito Wilderness, an area designated as wilderness and approved by Congress in 2005. The wilderness designation means that the area is removed from oil and natural-gas drilling. Motor vehicles are banned. There's a good gravel road, running on the southern border, maintained by Sandoval County that allows drivers to park on the edge of the backcountry. There are no official trails or water or facilities.
